Xiaomi, earlier in the week, unveiled the Mi A2 Android One in Madrid and confirmed that the new Google affiliated phone would make its debut in India on August 8. Now, reports have emerged that the company has a special surprise in the subcontinent-bound model.

Android Central, citing Xiaomi is claiming Mi A2 will support latest Quick Charge 4.0 in India, while global variant will have one generation old Quick Charge 3.0. For those unaware, the former is up to 20-per cent faster, 30-percent more efficient and while charging up to 5-degree Celsius cooler compared to the latter.

Furthermore, a five-minute charging will get you five hours talk time and also the phone (with 2,750mAh battery) can power up from zero to 50-percent in just 15 minutes with the Quick Charge 4.0.

However on the downside, Mi A2's package doesn't come with Quick Charge 4.0 compatible charger and to make use of the fast charging capability, people have no choice to buy a third-party power cable.

In a related development, reports are indicating that Xiaomi may not release the Mi A2 base variant with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage in India, instead start with 4GB RAM+64GB configuration. We believe the company's decision might be to avoid sales' cannibalisation of the popular Redmi Note 5 Pro series, which fall in the same price-band. Xiaomi has several phones between Rs 5,999 and Rs 16,999 bracket. And the Mi A2 is expected to retail for around Rs 16,000 and Rs 20,000.

The new Mi A2 flaunts a metal-clad shell on the back with the vertically-aligned dual camera on the top left corner and a fingerprint sensor in the middle for easy access to the finger to unlock the screen. On the front, it sports a 5.99-inch full HD+ screen with 2.5D curved glass on the top.

Inside, the Mi A2 houses a 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor, pure Android Oreo, 4GB/6GB RAM, 64GB/128GB storage and a 3,010mAh battery, which is more than enough to keep the phone running for a whole day under mixed usage.

The highlight of the Mi A2 is its photography hardware. It boasts two cameras -- 12MP (Sony IMX486 sensor) and 20MP (Sony IMX376 sensor). It is assisted by Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based software that can recognize 24 different scene types to optimize the camera to take the perfect photo. It scans the scene to identify whether the subject is in exotic locations such as hills, beach and is intelligent enough to differentiate between pet animals, flowers, and humans, and optimises the camera settings to take the best possible snaps.

On the front too, it will come with equally impressive 20MP (with Sony IMX376 sensor) with F1.75 aperture guaranteeing the users of good quality selfies even under low-light condition. It will also be assisted Smart beauty app to help users edit skin tone and other stuff.
