Social media is currently abuzz with an image that shows the apparent new Rs 2,000 currency note. This image has insanely going viral, at a time when there are reports about Reserve Bank of India having printed new Rs 2000 denomination notes which are also said to be released shortly.
Now, Twitterati has taken to the apparent Rs 2,000 currency note image and have been tweeting about the same. As of now, the RBI has the Rs 1,000 currency note that represents the highest denomination of currency in print and circulation.
However, the RBI has not made official intimations with respect to circulating Rs 2,000 currency notes.
Rumour mills are intensively abuzz with reports hinting at the release of Rs 2,000 currency notes in February 2017. At this juncture, it is worth noting that Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India (SPMCIL) has the responsibility of printing currency notes and issuing coins.
