Vijay's "Theri" is one of the biggest hits of 2016. The Tamil movie, which was released in April, has broken several box office records. It has been written and directed by Atlee Kumar, who has been keen to make a sequel to the flick.
Atlee Kumar's plans on its sequel took birth even before the release of "Theri." Looking at his work style, Vijay himself reportedly asked whether the director had right scripts in his hands to collaborate again. However, the young director did not have a suitable story and he told Ilayathalapathy that he was working on some scripts and would get back to him once it was ready.
This had left many people to believe that "Theri 2" was on the cards. However, the latest buzz is that the director is planning to team up with Karthi for a film. It means the sequel to Vijay-starrer is not happening now. However, Atlee is yet to open up on his plans.
Ilayathalapathy Busy with "Vijay 60"
On the other end, Ilayathalapathy is busy with his next film, which is currently being referred to as "Vijay 60." He has teamed up with Bharathan of "Azhagiya Tamizh Magan" fame. The movie has Keerthy Suresh in the female lead role and Jagapathi Babu plays the role of a villain in the flick.
Sathish, Daniel Balaji, Harish Uthamanan, Sharath Lohitashwa, Sreeman and others are also part of the cast. Santhosh Narayanan is scoring music, M Sukumar is handling the cinematography and Praveen KL is the editor of the flick.
Vijaya Productions is bankrolling the flick and the production house has plans to release the film for Pongal 2016. The actor has not taken up any project apart from this flick.
