IIT Kharagpur has retained its spot in the list of top 100 universities by QS Graduate Employability Rankings. The institute has been ranked 81-90 -- the highest among Indian universities.
"The institute which confers degree on nearly 2,500 students each year maintains a successful track record of placement for students from the graduating batches enrolling for campus placement. It also excels in industrial research output and overall corporate relations," the institute said in a statement.
The institute performed well on parameters such as partnerships with employers and employer-student connections.
The top three universities ranked globally are Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Tsinghua University.
IIT Kharagpur has been ranked among the peers such as University of Warwick, University of Calgary, University of Washington, etc.
IIT KGP has given particular emphasis on nurturing of employer-student relationship through special internship programmes and corporate relations programmes," the statement said.
"The institute has modified the academic curricula to accommodate project based learning which gives exposure to industry needs and problem solving attitude. This adds value to the overall aptitude and performance of the students in the process of recruitment," it added.
The ranking shows the best universities for getting a job. Universities are judged on employer reputation, partnerships with employers, presence of employers on campus, and alumni outcomes apart from graduate employment rates.
