Original Story: The admission process to various engineering colleges across India has been delayed as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has postponed the date of announcement of IIT JEE (Main) results.
The IIT JEE (Main) All India Rank (AIR) 2015 list, which was supposed to be released on 24 June, will be declared based on the revised schedule to be announced on 26 June.
Besides, the CBSE also postponed the date for filling-in choices for joint seat allocation (JoSAA 2015); the revised schedule for JoSAA also will be announced on Friday (26 June).
"Filling-in of choices for joint seat allocation (JoSAA 2015) will NOT start from 25 June 2015 because of the non-availability of JEE (Main) 2015 Paper-1 and JEE (Main) 2015 Paper-2 ranks... The revised schedule will be announced on 26 June 2015," according to the JEE (Advanced) website.
The seat allocation to IITs, NITs and other technical institutes was supposed to begin from 1 July, but it is now expected to be delayed.
What caused the delay?
The CBSE postponed the declaration of results and the filling-in of choices for JoSAA (counselling) because the All India Rank list was not ready.
Earlier, counselling for admission to IITs, NITs and other government-funded technical institutes were done separately. However, the Delhi High Court asked IITs to have common counselling for IITs and NITs from the academic year 2015-16.
Hence, the CBSE asked all the state Boards on 22 June to provide Class 12 result details of students who appeared for the IIT (Main) 2015 exam by 25 June.
"It is informed to all the stakeholders that in order to prepare the All India Ranks of the candidates appeared in JEE (Main) – 2015, the class 12th Board marks of all the candidates are required by CBSE. Therefore, all the candidates should ensure from their respective Board that their complete result data is received in the CBSE latest by 25/06/2015," the notice read.
It also talked about the consequences of non-submission of the data by 25 June.
"In case the result data is not received from the concerned Board by the specified date, the All India Ranks of JEE (Main) – 2015 of such candidates will not be prepared and CBSE will not be responsible for the same," it further said.
