The International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA), which was held in Madrid, Spain, was a fun filled event full of glitz and glamour, but that did not stop gossip mongers from spilling some details about the cold war brewing between top Bollywood celebs.
During the IIFA Awards, rumour mills were abuzz that "Mohenjo Daro" actor Hrithik Roshan and "Sultan" star Salman Khan avoided each other throughout the event. Despite bonding a few months ago, Salman and Hrithik avoided each other at the IIFA Awards 2016.
So, what went wrong? A source reveals that Hrithik did not like the idea of Salman suggesting Daisy Shah's name for the stage performance with him. "Hrithik had a segment in his act at the grand finale, which required a female dancer. This part was being done by a girl from Shiamak Davar's team. When Salman heard about this, he suggested that instead of an unknown dancer, the actor perform the act with Daisy Shah. Obviously, Daisy performing with a huge star like Hrithik would thrust her into the limelight. It was done by Salman with the intention of helping out his protégée. But Hrithik didn't warm to the idea," DNA quoted a source as saying.
The source further said that Hrithik initially agreed to perform with Daisy, but later went and told the organisers that he would pull out of the act if asked to perform with the "Jai Ho" actress.
"They (organisers) handled the situation the best they could, and Roshan Jr's performance happened sans Daisy. When Salman got to know about Hrithik's conversation with the organisers, he was very irritated. He felt that if the actor had any reservations, he should have been honest about it and he would have respected his decision. Hrithik realised that Bhai was annoyed with his stance and to avoid any unpleasantness, he didn't attend the press con or Salman's party."
