The busy New York Times Square was in for pleasant surprise as a horde of dancers caught attention on the evening of 13 April.
Dancers with yellow jersey paced up to the ever bustling Big Apple hotspot and broke into a jig with colourful Bollywood music.
The dancers opened up with props to the "Tatad Tatad" song from "Goliyon ki Rasleela, Ram-leela" and went on to groove to hit numbers such as "Saree Ke Fall Sa", "Gandi Baat" ("R... Rajkumar"), "Balam Pickari" ("Yeh Jawaani hai Deewani" and "Disco Deewani" ("Student of the Year").
As the dancers took centre stage, onlookers got camera friendly dishing out their smart phones and cameras to shoot the event.
Along with dancers, street performers too joined in as they were seen shaking legs to the popular Bollywood numbers.
The flash mob started off the celebrations to the eagerly anticipated 15th International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) weekend. The grand award ceremony is slated for 26 April on Tampa Bay, Florida.

Meanwhile, the gala event which will have big stars like Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan among others has run into certain legal troubles.
A Florida based travel agent Akrash Kolaprath has sued Wizcraft organisers of the IIFA for 7 million dollars alleging breach of trust and financial losses, reported Mid Day. The legal proceeding of the case is underway as both the parties have trade blame on each other.
Previously too, long term IIFA ambassador Amitabh Bachchan dissociated from the gala event after alleged tension with the makers.
