Indian telecommunication operator Idea Cellular on Tuesday launched a dual-SIM Android smartphone called 'Idea Ivory' for ₹7,390.
Idea Cellular is offering its fifth 3G Android smartphone with a 3.5-inch full touchscreen backed by a 1GHz processor. Idea Ivory runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system and supports dual-SIM connectivity.
"Devices play an important role in enhancing service experience for the user, and has been a key component of Idea's 3G growth strategy. Idea Ivory, based on the latest Android 4.0 OS, and all other previous 3G smartphones, have been affordably priced to propagate data usage amongst mass consumers. Idea's continuous focus on enhancing consumer experience, and understanding and providing support to user(s) needs and requirements in the relatively new and emerging service area such as 3G, has enabled us to become the most associated brand with 3G and data," Rajat Mukarji, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Idea Cellular said at the launch event in Hyderabad.
The smartphone comes preloaded with social media apps such as Facebook, Twitter, IMAP, HTML, Music Video Player, documents to go, multi e-mail POP3 and Android GMS standard application. It packs 512MB of RAM and 4GB of built-in storage which is expandable via microSD support. It comes equipped with a 3.2-megapixel rear-facing camera and supports 3G, WIFI, G-Sensor, GPS and Bluetooth on the connectivity front.
Idea Ivory comes bundled with data usage offers for Idea 3G users. The deal includes 1GB of 3G data every month for the first three consecutive months and subscription to Idea TV for ₹261. The device is available in black and white colour options at all Idea Cellular stores and retail outlets across the country.
Idea Cellular claimed that it has sold more than 2.25 lakh smarphones since its venture into the smartphone market over a year ago.
