West Indies pulled off a stunning victory over England to lift the ICC World T20 2016 at the Eden Gardens, Sunday. They were truly the deserving champions as they have played wonderful cricket throughout the tournament.
The entire cricketing fraternity took to social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to congratulate this spirited West Indies side after their win in the final.
Sachin Tendulkar also took to Twitter to congratulate the Darren Sammy-led West Indies team. That was not all. The legendary batsman went on to slam the West Indies Cricket Board for the handling of the situation with their own cricketers.
Earlier, the West Indies captain expressed his disappointment and slammed the WICB for a lack of support. Sammy even said the team did not have uniforms to wear just prior to the World T20 event.
"People were wondering whether we would play this tournament, we had issues with the board, Mark Nicholas called us 'players with no brain'. But all of us came together, these 15 men put adversity aside and played this type of cricket in front of such passionate fans. It was tremendous. I want to thank the coaching team and Phil Simmons," Sammy said during the post-match presentation speech.
Instead of lauding the players' efforts, WICB reprimanded Sammy for his 'inappropriate comments' about the board.
Tendulkar's tweet was in favour of the West Indian players and he urged the WICB to address the issues that the players have been facing.
Here is what Tendulkar had to say on Twitter:
