India will face Bangladesh in a Group 2 encounter of the ICC World T20 2016 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Wednesday. India need to win this game to stay in the hunt for a semifinal place.
Before the action starts, here is a look at some of the key battles:
Rohit Sharma vs Mustafizur Rahman: Rohit is yet to fire in the World T20. His form at the top of the order is crucial for India and he needs to be at his best in order to help his team qualify for the semifinals of the tournament. The Mumbai Indians skipper has scored 70 runs in his last 6 T20 innings for India. Now, Rohit will have to face Mustafizur Rahman, who dismissed him thrice last year when India toured Bangladesh. Mustafizur was quite effective against Australia as well, a couple of days ago in the World T20 encounter in Bengaluru. The left-arm seamer can cause havoc with his off-cutters and Rohit should be wary of Rahman's prowess.
Virat Kohli vs Shakib Al Hasan: The Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper is currently the best T20 batsman in the world and he is in the form of his life. Kohli powered India to yet another win against Pakistan and he will be raring to go against Bangladesh as well. Shakib will have to try and stop the India vice-captain, if he can. Shakib's changes of pace can fox the best in the business and he has been amongst the wickets in this tournament. This will be a contest to watch out for.
Mahmudullah vs Jasprit Bumrah: Bangladesh seem to have found their finisher in the batting lineup in Mahmudullah. The right-hander has been doing a terrific job with the bat and is one of the clean hitters of the white ball. He did the same against Australia Monday. Unfortunately, his effort went in vain as Bangladesh were handed their second loss in a row. Mahmudullah, though, will look to repeat his finishing skills against India, with MS Dhoni looking to Jasprit Bumrah to stop that from happening. Bumrah has been good in the death overs. His ability to bowl yorkers, and that too with so much ease, makes him a special bowler in the limited-overs format.
Sabbir Rahman vs R Ashwin: The right-handed all-rounder has been one of the best batsmen for Bangladesh in recent times. But, he is due for a big score in the World T20. He played a good hand against the Men in Blue in the Asia Cup final, just ahead of the World T20. Sabbir will be tested by the variations and skill of Ashwin, who is currently one of the best spinners in the world. Ashwin loves to take on attacking batsmen like Rahman. It will be interesting to see who prevails in the end.
