Pakistan have passed the World Cup group stages test to grab a spot in the knock out stages, as they are set to face Australia in the quarter-finals of the competition. The winner of the clash is set to face India in the semi-finals, provided the men in blue defeat Bangladesh.
Hence, another India vs Pakistan World Cup clash also can be expected, which is sure to set the competition alight.
If this does happen, Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq feels it would give his men another chance to beat India in a World Cup, which they have never done.
"It will be another chance for us to go there with a positive frame of mind. We would take it like another opportunity for us to break the shackles as we have never won against India in the World Cup," PTI quoted Misbah as saying.
Pakistan met India last earlier in the competition, which India won with ease by 76 runs.
Misbah believes that the current Indian team is an experienced one and are confident as well.
"Obviously when you are the defending champions you got all the confidence in yourself and they are now quite an experienced team playing the last couple of years with the same squad and their captain Dhoni is also a very experienced campaigner."
"They have performed upto expectations so far in this World Cup."
But, the Pakistan team needs to focus on their next game ahead, which is against Australia on 20 March at Adelaide. The Australian team have looked solid and itwould take something really special from the Pakistani side to oust the home team from the competition. Their only loss in the tournament came against Black Caps in New Zealand.
Pakistan, on the other hand have improved gradually as they defeated one of the favourites of the competition, South Africa in the group stages, which might give them the much needed confidence when they take on the Aussies.
But they have received a major setback with Muhammad Irfan ruled out of the competition.
"Even though we have lost Muhammad Irfan, which is a big blow to us, we can do it. If we can beat South Africa which is one of the finest sides than we can do it against Australia. He said regardless of Australia's form it is all about performing on the day."
If the men in green manage to beat Pakistan, the India vs Pakistan clash will be a huge one, considering Pakistan's eagerness to beat India in World Cup along with the confidence they will garner after defeating Michael Clarke's team.
