The last episode of "The Vampire Diaries" is set to air soon and with Nina Dobrev's exit from the show, the future of the CW series seems bleak.
Additionally, earlier this week actor Ian Somerhalder posted a photo on Instagram, giving rise to speculations that he too might exit the show. However, it is not yet confirmed if the 36-year-old actor might be looking for other projects to work on.
Somerhalder recently met up with Chris Grismer, the director and producer of several episodes of the vampire series, and the latter uploaded a photo of the actor's eyes on Instagram with a caption that read: "Guess who's hanging with us today".
Earlier this week, Somerhalder thanked "The Vampire Diaries" family via Instagram for keeping his character alive throughout the six seasons and many of his fans commented on his picture asking whether the show is done for good or whether he would still continue to romance Kat Graham's character Bonnie.
Though the fate of the series is being continuously speculated, Somerhalder did not want it to end on such a rocky note. In fact, he had even met up with co-star Dobrev and begged her not to leave. "Although her leaving does make things easier for him [Ian] personally, he knows how important Nina is to the show... Without Nina, Ian is very concerned with the direction the show will take," an insider told The HollywoodLife.
Meanwhile, In her goodbye message to her fans Dobrev said that she had always wanted Elena's story to be a six season adventure but fans as well as everyone know that it isn't the only reason the 26-year-old exited the show.
The only other person who seems to be enjoying Dobrev's exit is Somerhalder's fiancée and "Twilight" alum Nikki Reed, . The intimate scenes on-screen led Reed to believe that Somerhalder might get back with his ex.
