Everybody knew that Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev had parted ways but nobody could tell that they would never rekindle their relationship until a few days ago. The only bridge that had been linking the ex-couple was cut off when Dobrev announced that she had quit "The Vampire Diaries."
It is a while since Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev broke up but the very knowledge that they would not meet each other as often as they used to must have hurt them after being together for years both in real and reel life. Dobrev even posted a photo of her shooting the final scene on "The Vampire Diaries" with Ian Somerhalder on her Instagram page and captioned: "Behind the scenes – shooting a Damon&Elena scene w Smolderhalder aka @IanSomerhalder."
"Dearest TVD Family, I've just spent the most beautiful weekend on Lake Lanier in Georgia with my own TVD Family, the cast and crew of The Vampire Diaries. I want to be the first to tell you that it wasn't just a holiday celebration, it was a goodbye party," Dobrev had earlier written on her Instagram page to announce her decision to quit the series.
The news saddened "The Vampire Diaries" fans but "The Twilight" star Nikki Reed must be felling relieved by Dobrev's exit from the television series. Her engagement to Ian Somerhalder had severed the relationship of the ex-couple but there were possibilities of having a feeling in the back of her mind that they could get back together as they parted ways amicably.
A report by Celebrity Laundry said that Dobrev's exit from "The Vampire Diaries" "must have come as a gigantic relief to Nikki Reed, who has allegedly been very worried about Ian's renewed friendship with Nina recently." It went on to say that "Ian only broke up with Nina because she wasn't willing to settle down and start a family and get married at such a young age, and he wanted all those things. And if she was going to take him back right now, he would go back to her in a heartbeat."
Meanwhile, Dobrev recently showed so much maturity through her dealing with the broken relationship, telling that she still respects and loves Ian Somerhalder.
"If you're with someone for that long, obviously, there's the qualities in them that you enjoy, and it doesn't change because you're not together anymore," Nina had earlier said about Ian to E! Online. "I have an enormous amount of respect and love for him and everyone. It doesn't change. It shouldn't. Otherwise, why were you with them?"
Well, Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev may still be in good terms with each other but their relationship will never be the same again. They may meet only once in a blue moon now that Dobrev has quit "The Vampire Diaries."
