Saif Ali Khan's ex-wife Amrita Singh slammed reports that daughter Sara will soon make a Bollywood debut, saying that it's herself who will make a comeback on the silver screen.
Miffed with the rumours suggesting that the 16-year-old is set to sign her first film with a Yash Raj banner, Amrita told The Times of India that "I'm the one doing a film with that production house, not my daughter."
With Sara currently in high school and with plans to study law abroad, Amrita said, "If she decides to join films, it may be four years hence. As of now, she has not signed any movie and I seriously think it is ridiculous to speculate about her career when she has yet to finish her studies."
Earlier this week, an insider told Mumbai Mirror that "Sara has got many offers but Amrita wants the best for her daughter. Of late, youngsters launched by YRF have got a favorable response from the industry. Amrita's talks with them have reached the advanced stage."
"It is heard Sara's debut film is a love story. Just as Amrita had debuted in 1983 with Betaab, a romance that marked the debut of Sunny Deol too," the source added.
Speculations that Sara will enter the film industry surfaced from the time she appeared on the cover of Hello! magazine's January issue. Responding to her daughter's debut photo shoot, Amrita had said in an earlier interview: "After seeing the magazine cover page, Sara has got many offers. Five eminent filmmakers have approached us and said that they wanted Sara to play the leading lady in their films."
Despite having to wait longer to see Sara on the big screen, news of Amrita sharing screen space with Jackie Shroff after a gap of 20 years is certainly something to cheer about. The actress will soon commence shooting for Yash Raj's "Aurangzeb".
