Mila Kunis recently got candid about her relationship with Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin and revealed what went wrong between the two lovebirds. The actress, who is now married to Ashton Kutcher, took responsibility for her break up with Culkin saying she "f**ked up."
The Friends with Benefits star began dating Culkin back in 2002 and were together for eight years. Kunis said that it was a few mistakes she did in her 20s that affected her relationship with the actor.
Speaking to Dax Shepard on his podcast Armchair Expert, she said it was "a horrible, horrible breakup," adding, "I f**cked up."
I was an a** h*** in my 20s and I'll be the first to admit it. And that's something that took me a long time to come out and be like, 'Yeah, you know what, I was a d**k,' and accept it and I own it now.
"It's f**ked up what I did. It's f**ked up what I did and it's f**ked up how I did it. When I got to be a single I said, 'I just need to figure myself out.' I genuinely need to know why I did what I did, and, like, regroup myself as a human being," she added.
The actress, who is now a mother-of-two, also shared that she has now forgiven herself. "It's been so long like I feel like enough time has gone by. I think enough mutual friends have been like, everybody kind of forgave everybody for what went down," she said.
Two years after the messy breakup, the actress began dating her "That 70s Show" co-star Ashton Kutcher though they wanted to keep the relationship under wraps in the beginning.
"We were crazy neurotic about keeping it a secret, probably to a massive fault where we alienated so many friends, I'm sure," Kunis said.
The duo started dating long after the show ended. Kunis feels Kutcher probably thought "that's not the same little girl I used to know" when the two stars reconnected years later.
"I told my mum I was seeing him. We were driving up Laurel Canyon, and I was like, 'Mum, I have to tell you I'm dating somebody. And she was like, 'Oh tell me! Who are you dating?' And I was like, 'You've got to brace yourself for this one ... I'm dating Ashton Kutcher. And she literally was like, 'Shut the f**k up' in Russian," she said.
Kunis said Kutcher's split from actress Demi Moore led to her mother reacting in such a way.
"He was coming off of a divorce. He was post, post, post, way post-divorce, but I think there was a lot of misconceptions about the divorce. People had a weird perception of who he was based on rumours that he didn't correct," she explained.
We went into this relationship super transparent with one another, so we knew 100 percent each other's faults, we knew exactly who we were. ... And we were like, 'I accept you for who you are.'
While the couple is a happy family, Culkin is currently dating former Disney star Brenda Song.
