Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) completed two decades of operation in India this year and it was rumoured that the carmaker would celebrate the occasion with a special edition of Xcent compact sedan. HMIL launched the Xcent 20th anniversary limited edition for a starting price of Rs. 6.25 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The special edition will be sold only in the mid-level S variant.

The special edition costs additional Rs. 16,999 over the regular S variant of the Xcent. The limited edition Xcent features pure cosmetic add-ons. It comes with chrome touches in the grille, side decals, boot spoiler and 20th anniversary badge on the boot. The interior has been spruced up with black and red dual-tone fabric upholstery. It also flaunts a 6.2-inch Blaupunkt touchscreen infotainment system. Hyundai reportedly plans to produce only 2,400 units of the special-edition Xcent.

"Xcent has emerged as India's most loved family sedan and we are confident that the Special Edition will further enhance the excitement among the customers," Rakesh Srivastava, Sr VP Sales and Marketing, HMIL in statement.

Mechanically, the new edition is likely to be the same as the current model. The Xcent is powered by a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, which can churn out 82bhp of power and 114Nm of torque, and a 1.1-litre three-cylinder U2 diesel engine that can develop 69bhp of power and 180Nm of torque. The transmission is taken care of by a five-speed manual transmission, while there is also a four-speed automatic gearbox in petrol models.
