South Korean auto major Hyundai has updated its popular Elite i20 hatchback and i20 Active crossover in India with safety features like dual airbags, making the models competent in the burgeoning auto market.
Following the suit of other auto majors in the country, Hyundai has now equipped its 2016 Elite i20 and i20 Active with dual airbag as standard. In addition to this, Hyundai has also updated its popular Elite i20 model. While the top-of-the-line model Asta features projector headlamps with cornering lamp and LED daytime running lights, the mid-level Sportz (O) has been discontinued.
Mechanically, the models will remain the same and continue to be powered by 1.2 litre petrol engine and 1.4 litre CRDi diesel motor. While the petrol engine can churn out 81.8bhp of power and peak torque of 114nm, the diesel motor is tuned to generate 88.7bhp of power and peak torque of 220nm. Hyundai recently updated its Elite i20 with a touchscreen AVN system (Audio, Video, and Navigation).
Both the 2016 Elite i20 and i20 Active models are expected to hit the showrooms soon with a price tag slightly higher than the current model. Hyundai already said that their range of models in India will see a price hike from January 2016.
