South Korean auto major Hyundai's ix25 launch is around the corner. Hyundai, which seems to have big plans in India with the launch of new compact SUV, is reportedly set to kick off the pre-launch activities for the upcoming model in June.
A new report of Indian autos Blog says that the pre-launch campaign for ix25 in India will begin next month including the test drives for media ahead of its expected launch in August. The report also adds that some of the variants of ix25 in India will be priced competitively to challenge the ascendancy of Ford's EcoSport SUV.
Caught on camera numerous times in India while undergoing its test rounds, Hyundai ix25 is expected to be offered in both petrol and diesel engine options in India with 1.6-litre petrol and diesel mills under the hood. In the international market, ix25 is sold with 1.6- and 2.0-litre petrol engines coupled with 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions, with the choice of front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. It is not sure if India will also see the all-wheel drive version of ix25. It has also been said that the ix25 could also get 1.4 litre diesel engines.
The India-bound ix25 is likely to be almost the same as its international counterpart with minor tweaks in the front and rear styling. From what we know so far, the model is likely to include features like central console with audio controls, air con vents and climate controls.
When launched in India during this festive season, Hyundai ix25 will be rivalling Renault Duster, Mahindra Scorpio and Nissan Terrano and is expected to get a price tag in the range of ₹8 lakh to ₹12 lakh. If rumours are anything to go by, ix25 SUV will be wearing a different name in India.
