A prototype of the upcoming Hyundai ix25 has been spied testing once again, giving us another set of photos of the compact SUV's sightings in the country ahead of its launch.
The folks at IndianAutosBlog spotted the test mule of Hyundai ix25 on the roads of Chennai. Although it was heavily camouflaged, it was not difficult to get a good sense of the car's overall body proportions.
It has already been confirmed that Hyundai ix25 will be launched in 2015. The model is likely to hit the showrooms during the upcoming festive season.
Hyundai ix25 is already being sold in China and it will follow the same style features and design when it hits the India market. It is expected to get features like central console with audio controls, air con vents and climate controls.
The SUV is likely to include 1.6 litre petrol and diesel units. In the international market, ix25 is sold with 1.6- and 2.0-litre petrol engines coupled to 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions with choices of front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. It is still not clear if the same all-wheel version will also find its way to the Indian market.
In terms of dimension, the global models of ix25 measures 4,270 mm in length, 1,780 mm in width, and 1,630 mm in height. In India, Hyundai ix25 will be competing against the likes of popular SUVs such as Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster, Mahindra Scorpio and Nissan Terrano.
It is being speculated that the South Korean automotive manufacturer will price its new SUV competitively in the Indian market, probably in the range of ₹8 lakh to ₹12 lakh.
In another development, Hyundai - which is gearing up for the launch of its facelifted Verna in the country - has started accepting the bookings through dealers with an advance payment of ₹21,000.
