Korean auto major Hyundai's upcoming compact SUV ix25 has been spied testing in the country again, this time in Mangalore.
It was only a couple of weeks back Hyundai rolled out its new generation i20 dubbed Elite i20 onto the Indian auto market, and now the company is already testing its new SUV. Approximately a week ago, the ix25 was spotted testing on our roads for the first time and now the car was caught on camera again, this time by the Indian Autos Blog reader, Vivaswantha M. S. Bhat in Mangalore.
Nothing much has changed from what we saw last time and the SUV is still seen hiding under heavy camouflage. The Hyundai ix25, rumoured to be also called IB Cross or i20 Cross, is expected to accommodate features like central console with audio controls, air con vents and climate controls.
The car, which made its debut at Beijing Motor Show 2014, is likely to get 1.6 litre petrol and diesel units under the hood. In the international markets, the ix25 is sold with 1.6- and 2.0-liter petrol engines coupled to 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions with choices of front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. However, we are not sure if Hyundai will bring the All Wheel Drive option to India.
We also hear that upcoming SUV would get wrap-around headlight clusters and hexagonal grille. In terms of dimension, the ix25 measures 4,270 mm in length, 1,780 mm in width, 1,630 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,590 mm.
In India, we will probably see ix25 in the showrooms only next year, but it looks like the company is wasting no time to make it ready. Once it hits the market, Hyundai ix25 will be pinned to rival India's popular SUVs Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster, Mahindra Scorpio and Nissan Terrano and going by the rumours the ix25 would get a price tag in the ₹8 lakh-₹12 lakh range.
