It was just recently South Korean auto-maker Hyundai confirmed that the company's compact SUV ix25 will make its India debut during this festive season and now days after that a new set of images of the model has surfaced online, giving us a hint of what to expect on the arrival of the SUV.
Captured on camera by the folks at MotorVikatan while undergoing testing in the city of Chennai, ix25 is still seen hiding under heavy camouflage. Although obscured by black wrap, it is not difficult to figure out the outline of the SUV from the latest spy shots. The car which has already made dozens of appearances on the web through spy shots and leaked reports will be reaching India market officially by October-November 2015.
As for the engines, the India-specific version of Hyundai ix25 is likely to include 1.6 litre petrol and diesel units. ix25 is sold in a few international markets with 1.6- and 2.0-litre petrol engines coupled to 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions with choices of front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
It is not sure, if the all-wheel drive will make it to the Indian market, however possibilities are not ruled out completely. In terms of features, there is still no clarity as to which of the features from the global model will make it to the Indian version; however, it is said that the features like central console with audio controls, air con vents and climate controls are on the menu.
ix25, Hyudnai's first offering in this segment will rival model like India's popular SUVs Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster, Mahindra Scorpio and Nissan Terrano in the domestic market. Speaking of the pricing, last we heard is that the new Hyundai SUV could get a price tag in the range of ₹8 lakh to ₹12 lakh.
