It was just a few days ago that the South Korean auto major, Hyundai, showcased its ix25 compact SUV at the Auto Shanghai 2015. Now, the model has hit the web once again, this time through fresh spy shots snapped while testing.
Hyundai ix25 was caught on camera before too. But this time, Indian Autos Blog reader, Jahnavee R, has managed to snap the heavily camouflaged Hyundai ix25 prototype with a more-closeup approach. From the images, the interesting part is that the new ix25 is spied testing alongside Ford EcoSport. Going by the report, the Ford EcoSport is said to be used for benchmarking purpose.
From the new spy shots, there is nothing much one can pull out, however the repeated sighting of the vehicle on Indian roads tell us that the work of SUV is progressing at a rapid pace.
The ix25, the compact SUV from the house of Hyundai is poised to make its India debut during the festive season this year, with the probable launch in August. In the international market, ix25 is sold with 1.6- and 2.0-litre petrol engines coupled with 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions, with the choice of front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
The engine line-up of India-bound ix25 is likely to include 1.6-litre petrol and diesel mills. We also hear that Hyundai is also considering 1.4 litre diesel engines for the Indian market. However, nothing has been confirmed so far. It is also remained to be seen if Hyundai will bring all-wheel drive version of ix25 to India.
As for styling and features, the ix25 in India is speculated to be almost same as its global counterpart, with features like central console with audio controls, air con vents and climate controls. To be pitched against the popular SUV models like Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster, Mahindra Scorpio and Nissan Terrano in India, ix25 is speculated to get a price tag in the range of ₹8 lakh to ₹12 lakh.
