With only a few weeks left until the unveiling of Hyundai's new compact SUV in India, the South Korean auto maker is busy putting its upcoming offering through final testing in India.
A new prototype of Hyundai ix25 has been snapped while undergoing its usual test rounds once again in the country. This time, the images reportedly show the top-end variant of the model. Indian Autos blog reader Debtanu Mukherjee spotted the ix25 on the Greater Noida expressway and snapped it.
Despite the camouflage, we already know that the India-bound ix25 will look almost similar to its global counterpart, except for the minor tweaks in the styling. Expected to be launched in India before the festive season this year, Hyundai ix25 is likely to be priced in the range of ₹8 lakh to ₹12 lakh.
Regarding the under the hood treatment, the India–specific ix25 SUV is speculated to get 1.6-litre petrol and diesel mills with 5- and 6-speed manual transmission. In the international market, ix25 is sold with 1.6- and 2.0-litre petrol engines coupled with 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions, with the choice of front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
From what we have heard so far, Hyundai will be launching its new SUV ix25 in India with a different name and will begin the pre-launch campaign in India from June. When launched in India, the model will be squared off against Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster, Mahindra Scorpio and Nissan Terrano.
