Hyundai was caught testing what seems to be a Grand i10-based sedan on the Chennai-Vellore highway, fuelling speculations that the Korean carmaker will roll out a new sedan next year.
This is the first time that the pictures of the upcoming Grand i10-based sedan hit the web. The folks at IndianAutoBlog have posted the photos of the new Hyundai car, which is currently in testing phase in Chennai.
Though the pictures show the car was mostly covered, reports suggest the spotted vehicle shares plenty of similarities with the Hyundai's recently launched Grand i10. The test mule of the sedan flaunts the same roof line of the hatchback and the interior also flashes the Grand i10 design. The next Hyundai sedan offering is expected to take on rivals like Honda Amaze, Maruti Swift Dzire and the Tata Indigo eCS.
The Grand i10 sedan is speculated to come in both petrol and diesel variants in the country. The petrol model of the car is likely to pack the same 1.2-liter Kappa2 petrol engine, which powers the Grand i10 sedan.

On the other hand, the diesel version of the car is expected to pack the 1.4-litre unit from the i20, which can churn out a power of 89bhp and a torque of 219Nm. The petrol version of the car would come with a 5-speed manual transmission gear box and the diesel variant would be powered by a six-speed MT.
