Hyundai's Creta SUV has become another highly successful model for the Korean manufacturer in India. The compact SUV just breached 70,000 bookings and is among the best-selling SUVs in India after being launched in July.

Buoyed by the overwhelming response, it was reported that the company is gearing up to bring more SUVs to India. The Tucson SUV will reportedly be launched in January 2016. An Oncars.in report indicates yet another SUV is in the pipeline and it will be based on the Grand i10 hatchback.

The sub four-metre compact SUV will be portioned below the Creta in Hyundai's line-up and its price is expected to be just over Rs 5 lakh. That also means the compact SUV will go up against the upcoming Mahindra S101 and the Tata Nexon.

The Grand i10 platform will also underpin Hyundai's upcoming MPV, the Hexa Space, which is due in the second half of 2016. The Grand i10-based compact SUV is expected to enter into production by 2017.

The compact SUV is expected to be available with the 1.2-litre Dual VTVT petrol engine, while the diesel engine likely to be a 1.4-litre U2 CRDi unit. A five-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic transmission options are expected with the engines.
