Hyundai Eon is not too old in India, and it looks like the South Korean company wants it to remain young in the minds of customers.
A new avatar of Hyundai Eon has been caught on camera undergoing testing in Korea, hinting that the entry level model is getting ready for a makeover.
The fresh spy shots of new Eon appeared on a Korean website Hankyung and the images show the Hyundai model in a camouflaged avatar.
Although there is nothing much one can pull out from the spy shots, the buzz online is that the facelift Eon is likely to have changes mainly in the rear and front profiles.
Expected to hit the market sometime in 2015, the new Eon is likely to carry over the same engines of the exiting model.
In India, Hyundai Eon is sold in two engine options - 800 cc petrol engine and 1.0 litre three-cylinder engine. While the small engine 800cc is tuned to generate 55 hp of power and 74.5 Nm of torque, the latter churns out a power of 69PS and peak torque at 9.6 kgm.
When launched, the new model will rival Maruti's entry level cars Alto and Alto 800, and Nissan's Datsun Go in India.
In 2015, the Korean car maker is also expected to launch three new models to cement its position in the Indian auto market. The company is likely to launch its compact SUV ix25 in the domestic market with 1.6 litre petrol and diesel units under the hood.
There is also Hyundai's new Elite i20 based Crossover and Verna facelift in the product line-up for 2015. Speaking of the engines, new Elite i20 Cross is expected to pack the same engine of Elite i20. The current Elite i20 packs 1.2 litre petrol engine and 1.4 litre CRDi diesel motor.
On the other hand, Verna facelift is expected to get 1.4-litre diesel and petrol engines and 1.6-litre diesel and petrol engines under the hood, with a five-speed manual gearbox for petrol and a six-speed manual for diesel.
