South Korean auto major Hyundai is reportedly making ready the facelift version of its popular Elite i20 hatchback for the Indian market. The Elite i20, which competes against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Honda Jazz, was launched in India in 2014.
According to a MotorOctane report, the facelifted avatar of the Elite i20 would be launched in India in 2017. It is likely to be priced slightly higher than the current model. The changes in the new avatar of the Elite i20 are likely to include new features like new leather seat upholstery, auto day and night internal mirror, and advanced driver information system. The style and the exterior features are likely to remain same as now. Mechanically too, the Elite i20 facelift will get the same 1.2 litre petrol engine and 1.4 litre CRDi diesel motor. While the petrol engine of the Elite i20 can churn out 82bhp of power and peak torque of 114Nm, the diesel motor is tuned to generate 89bhp of power and peak torque of 220Nm.
Recently, Hyundai updated the Elite i20 with Touchscreen Infotainment System. Hyundai has now equipped its 2016 Elite i20 with dual airbag as standard. In addition to this, the top-of-the-line model Asta now features projector headlamps with cornering lamp and LED daytime running lights, while the mid-level Sportz (O) has been discontinued.
Launched in August 2014, the Elite i20 received a warm welcome in the country and also managed a spot in the list of top 10 best selling cars in India within a short time of its launch.
