Hyundai's Elite i20 based crossover i20 Cross is speculated to make its India debut in March this year and the company is busy putting its new model through its final testing.
A new prototype of Elite i20 Cross has been spied undergoing testing on the Chennai-Bangalore highway, albeit under heavy camouflage. Spotted IndianAutos Blog reader, Shruchet, Elite i20 Cross is seemed to have got increased ground clearance.
The auto lovers in the country have already seen numerous spy shots of the new crossover i20 Cross. The model which is coming from the house of Hyundai is designed to rival Toyota Etios Cross, Fiat Avventura and Volkswagen Polo Cross in the domestic market and is expected to carry a price tag of around ₹8 lakh.
Beneath the skin, Elite i20 Cross is expected to get the same the same engine of its sibling Elite i20. The current Elite i20 packs 1.2 litre petrol engine and 1.4 litre CRDi diesel motor. The petrol engine is tuned to churn out 83PS power and a peak torque of 114Nm and the diesel motor capable of generating 90PS power and a peak torque of 220Nm. The style and design of the new crossover is also likely have more than a passing resemblance to its smaller sibling Elite i20.
From what we have seen so far, Elite i20 cross is likely to accommodate crossover features like plastic-cladding, roof-railing and side-body cladding and the styling change is mainly in the form of reworked front fascia with new projector headlight with LED daytime running lights and new big alloy wheels. Inside the cabin too, the new Elite i20 Cross is likely to get changes.
