It appears like the launch of South Korean maker Hyundai's much awaited Elite i20 Cross has been almost confirmed as a new report on the web suggest that the company will present its new crossover to its fans in the country on 9 March.
Elite i20 Cross, an upcoming offering from Hyundai has been trying the patience of Indian auto lovers for quite a while now and now it looks like the wait is getting over.
A new report of OverDrive, citing sources close to the development claims that Hyundai is planning a March launch for Elite i20 Cross in India.
Auto aficionados in the country have already seen numerous spy shots of Elite i20 in its different forms and have a pretty clear idea of what to expect from this new Elite i20-based model.
Now this bit is for the uninitiated. Elite i20 Cross, a model based on Hyundai's Elite i20 is expected to get a similar design of its smaller sibling and get additions like plastic-cladding, roof-railing and side-body cladding.
The previous images have shown us reworked front fascia with new projector headlight with LED daytime running lights and new big alloy wheels. Inside the cabin too, the new Elite i20 Cross is likely to include changes. For the oily bits, the upcoming crossover is expected to include the same engine of its sibling Elite i20.
The current Elite i20 packs 1.2 litre petrol engine and 1.4 litre CRDi diesel motor. The petrol engine is tuned to churn out 83PS power and a peak torque of 114Nm and the diesel motor capable of generating 90PS power and a peak torque of 220Nm.
Once it hits the market, Elite i20 will be competing against the likes of Toyota Etios Cross, Fiat Avventura and Volkswagen Polo Cross and the model is expected to get a price tag of around ₹8 lakh.
