From its features and engine to the price, a lot has already been said about the upcoming automatic variant of Hyundai's popular hatchback the Elite i20. And what is actually left to see is when Hyundai is planning to bring this to the Indian market.
While it has almost been confirmed that the launch could happen anytime soon, the company has been tight-lipped about this so far. Now, emerging reports say that the Elite i20 petrol automatic is slated to launch in India in the next 10 days. That means, the new avatar of the Elite i20 hatchback will make its entry into the market by mid-September.
In the automatic avatar, the Elite i20 will come powered by 1.4 litre four-cylinder VTVT petrol engine that develops 99bhp at 6,000rpm and 132.5Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. This engine will come coupled to a four-speed automatic transmission. Currently, the Elite i20 in India is sold with a 1.2 litre petrol engine and a 1.4 litre CRDi diesel motor. While the petrol engine of Elite i20 can churn out 82bhp of power and peak torque of 114Nm, the diesel motor is tuned to generate 89bhp of power and peak torque of 220Nm.
The Elite i20 automatic will be sold only in Magna variant. As far as the styling is concerned, The Elite i20 automatic will stay very much within the style of the current model in the market. The Elite i20 Magna comes with dual front airbags as standard. However, it misses out on features such as projectors headlamps, keyless entry, rear parking camera and the touchscreen entertainment system.
Some of the dealerships of the company have started accepting bookings for the model.
