Korean car maker Hyundai's Elite i20 with automatic transmission has been in news for quite some time, with reports saying the launch would happen in the festive season. Ahead of the launch, an updated brochure has been seen in Hyundai dealership centres that lists the specifications of the automatic variant.
The Elite i20 will get a four-speed automatic transmission coupled to a 1368cc four-cylinder VTVT petrol engine that develops 99bhp at 6,000rpm and 132.5Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. In comparison, the manual transmission-equipped petrol-powered Elite i20 employs 1,197cc four-cylinder engine that develops 82bhp and 115Nm of torque.
According to TeamBHP, the Elite i20 automatic will be sold only in Magna variant. Though this version is equipped with dual front airbags as standard, it misses ABS, projectors headlamps, keyless entry, rear parking camera and the touchscreen entertainment system.
No changes will be made to the current version of the Elite i20 as far as the style and design are concerned. Hyundai dealers have already started accepting bookings for the Elite i20 automatic. The automatic variant of the Elite i20 has been awaited for some time now, ever since its prime rivals — Honda Jazz and Maruti Suzuki Baleno — came with CVT gearbox on the petrol variants.
