Even as the auto lovers in India are eagerly waiting to see the launch of the hotly-anticipated compact SUV Creta on 21 July, the latest rumours swirling on the web indicates that the South Korean auto major may also bring the All-Wheel Drive (AWD) version of the model to the Indian market.
Hyundai, which unveiled the new Creta at its plant last week, will officially be presenting the new SUV to its fans on 21 July. The Creta, a global SUV that is sold in China as iX25, will be launched in India in front wheel drive version. Now, the folks at Indian Autos Blog, who are believed to have spoken to Hyundai product planner, reveal that the 4-wheel Drive version (AWD) of Creta SUV is also under consideration for the Indian market, adding that for now the focus remains on the manual and automatic variants of Creta.
Creta, a tweaked version of ix25 SUV, will be offered in both petrol and diesel options in India.
Under the hood, Creta will come with 1.6-litre VTVT petrol, 1.6-litre U2 CRDi and 1.4-litre U2 CRDi diesel mills. While 1.4l diesel can churn out 90PS of power and 220Nm of torque with 6-speed manual transmission, 1.6l petrol is tuned to make 123PS of power and 154Nm torque with 6-speed manual gearbox. The 1.6l diesel with a 6-speed automatic transmission has the capacity to generate 128PS of power and 260Nm of torque.
The dealers of the company have started accepting the booking for Creta with a down payment of ₹25,000-₹50,000, depending upon the variant and the SUV is likely to be priced in the range of ₹8 lakh to ₹12 lakh.
In India, Hyundai will challenge the dominance of Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster, Mahindra Scorpio and Nissan Terrano.
Hyundai Creta will house features like push-button start, smart entry, touchscreen entertainment system, reverse parking camera, Steering mounted controls, dual airbags, parking Sensor Display, Electric folding ORVM , Anti-lock braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and more .
