South Korean auto major Hyundai has reportedly hiked the prices of its Creta and Elite i20 in India, which has come as a surprise considering other car makers are pouring in discounts and offers to woo the buyers for the festive season.
The price of Hyundai Creta, the latest entrant in the SUV segment, has now been hiked by Rs 25,000, whereas the premium hatchback of Elite i20 witnessed an increase of Rs 9,000 across all variants, as reported by ZigWheels.
The hike is expected to come into effect immediately. Although Hyundai's latest hike will surprise many, the general consensus is that the hike is not going to have much effect on the sales of both Creta and Elite i20. Hyundai has recently updated its Elite i20 with the Touchcsreen infotainment system following the launch of its rival Honda Jazz.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that the waiting period of Hyundai Creta has gone up to six months as there is an increasing demand for the model. Hyundai Creta has been earning tremendous response from the auto lovers since its launch with over 10,000 bookings prior to launch.
Creta is being offered in both petrol and diesel engine options. Creta's 1.6-litre VTVT petrol engine can churn out 123PS and 151Nm of torque. The 1.6 litre CRDI diesel engine is tuned to pump out 128PS of power and 260Nm of torque.
Hyundai Creta 1.6 petrol engine offers a fuel efficiency of 15.29 kmpl, while the 1.4 diesel and 1.6 diesel engine variants offer 21.38 kmpl and 19.67 kmpl mileage, respectively.
