Hyundai Motor India Limited is reportedly planning to launch the first anniversary edition of the Creta SUV in August. The Korean company launched the SUV on July 12 last year and became a runaway success with over 80,000 units of sales so far. The anniversary edition of the Creta was revealed early this month and the first unit was gifted to ace badminton player of India, Saina Nehwal, for her win in the Australian Open Championship.
A report in Autocar India says the anniversary edition will be available on the SX variant with a 1.6-litre diesel engine producing 126bhp and 259.8Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
The anniversary edition comes with stripe styled body decals in red and grey on the sides and rear of the SUV. Like the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza's top variant, it features contrasting black coloured roof. The special edition also boasts of 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels and 1st Anniversary Edition badge on the C-pillar.
On the interior, the seats are expected to get dual tone treatment in red and black. In addition, a keyless entry and engine start/stop button will be part of the special edition. The limited number model will be sold in Polar White, Silky Silver and Passion Red colour options. The anniversary edition is expected to be priced at a slightly premium rate over the SX trim variant.
Despite being a year old in India, the demand of the SUV is still high. The Korean carmaker has reportedly received over 1.3 lakh bookings for the SUV, out of which over 80,000 units have been delivered. Overwhelming demand prompted Hyundai India to increase the monthly production of the Creta from 7,500 units to 12,000 units for the domestic market recently. The waiting period for the SUV now ranges between two to four months.
