South Korean auto maker Hyundai is all set to launch its much-awaited Creta SUV in India on 21 July. With the launch of new SUV in the lucrative segment, Hyundai hopes to grab the top position in the SUV segment where Mahindra's Scorpio, Ford's EcoSport and Renault's Duster have been dominant for quite some time.
A report on ET Auto reveals that South Korean auto maker Hyundai aims at selling around 5,000 units of Creta every month, which is higher than the average sales of Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster. The sales target of Hyundai is ahead the sales of Mahindra Scorpio too.
Further the report also adds that in the first year of launch, Hyundai will be producing around 40,000 units of Creta, and the company will be increasing it to 70,000-80,000 units.
To be offered in four variants -- Base, S, SX and SX (O) -- Hyundai Creta will pack 1.6-litre VTVT petrol, 1.6-litre U2 CRDi and 1.4-litre U2 CRDi diesel mills. While 1.4l diesel can churn out 90PS of power and 220Nm of torque with 6-speed manual transmission, 1.6l petrol is tuned to make 123PS of power and 154Nm torque with 6-speed manual gearbox. The 1.6l diesel with a 6-speed automatic transmission has the capacity to generate 128PS of power and 260Nm of torque.
Expected to be priced in the range of ₹8-₹12 lakh, the unofficial bookings for Creta is underway in the country.
