Ram Pothineni's Hyper opened to an average response and failed to show growth over the weekend. The movie has failed to cross even the $100,000 mark at the US box office in three days.
Ram Pothineni has a decent fan following in North America and his recent releases have fared well in the country. Hence, Cineparadiso acquired its overseas distribution rights, shelling out a hefty price for them. The distribution house premiered the movie in over 50 screens on Thursday night and released it in over 90 cinema halls across the country on Friday.
Hyper received average response in the premiere on Thursday night and collected approximately $16,208. The movie garnered mixed talk from the audience and the word of mouth took a toll on its business on its opening day. The film collected $24,590 at the US box office on the first day.
The Ram Pothineni and Raashi Khanna starrer showed some amount of growth on Saturday, but it was not upto the expected mark. However, its business dropped by over 45 percent on Sunday. Hyper minted $36,608 on its second day and $19,845 on the third day in the country.
Hyper has collected a total of $97,251 at the US box office in the first weekend and could not even cross $100,000 mark in the country in three days. Idlebrain Jeevi tweeted: "#Hyper falls short of $100k ($97,251) first weekend by collecting $19,845 on Sunday in USA "
Ram's previous release Nenu Sailaja collected $328,826 (Rs 2.18 crore) at the US box office in its opening weekend and it was the highest amount for the actor's film. After seeing its hype and promotions, trade analysts predicted Hyper would break this record, but the film has failed to cross even half the amount.
