An Indian woman, who was deported from the UAE, was reportedly arrested on Friday by the Cyberabad police at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad after it emerged that she allegedly had links with the Islamic State.
The woman, Afsha Jabeen alias Nicole Nikki Joseph, who allegedly recruited boys through social media networks to be sent to join the Islamic State, was deported by the UAE on Thursday night along with her husband Devender Batra alias Mustafa and three daughters.
According to the police, Afsha Jabeen is linked with Salman Mohiuddin, who was arrested earlier this year when he was trying to fly to Syria to join the Raqqa-based terror outfit.
"She is an associate of Salman Mohiuddin, an Hyderabad based engineer who studied in US and got arrested in January 2015 for suspected links with Islamic State," the Deccan Chronicle quoted a senior police official as saying.
On 1 September, the Research & Analysis Wing (RAW) had reportedly interrogated a man from Malappuram at Kozhikode airport in Kerala over suspected terror links.
A report from the central government had earlier pointed out that many Indians were increasingly getting influenced by the Isis through social media.
