Unidentified gunmen shot dead a member of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Sopore area on Saturday, September 8.
The Kashmir police has said that the gunmen fired at Hakim-ul-Rehman Sultani from a close range outside his home at Reshipora Bomai area, following which he was rushed to a hospital, reported IANS.
"He was immediately shifted to a hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival," a police official said. Reports have said, Sultani, an Hurriyat activist was affiliated with the group headed by Syed Ali Geelani.
Sultani had been recently released from jail.
