Hollywood is awaiting for the release of big holiday films, including "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1", "Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb" as well as "Big Hero 6", to catch up with last year's box office collection of around $11 billion.
As for now, the revenue of world's biggest entertainment industry is close to $8 billion this year, which is $2 billion less than the box office collection of 2013, according to Box Office Mojo.
In order to find out the public sentiments on the upcoming Hollywood movies, Social media measurement company Fizziology in collaboration with Twitter has done a survey on the list of most anticipated films of this fall that are likely to hit big at the box office, reported Forbes.
Here is the list of top 10 most anticipated Hollywood movies of 2014:
1. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1
"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1" is the most anticipated Hollywood movie of this fall, which is expected to bombard the box office with a collection of around $4 billion. The first two parts of the movie version of Suzanne Collins's trilogy book gained $1.5 billion from the box office worldwide.
The third installment of "The Hunger Games" movie series stars Josh Hutcherson, Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Woody Harrelson, Jeffrey Wright, Julianne Moore, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Donald Sutherland. The film is scheduled to hit the theatres on 20 November in the UK and 21 November in the US.
2. Interstellar
"Interstellar" is an upcoming science fiction by Christopher Nolan. The film is expected to pull the crowd to theatres worldwide with the presence of actors like Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain and Michael Caine, who are currently some of the biggest names in the Hollywood industry.
"Interstellar" revolves around the lives of a few space travellers, who get involved in a journey through a worm-hole with an aim to save humanity. The movie is scheduled for a worldwide release on 7 November.
3. Big Hero 6
"Big Hero 6" is one of the most anticipated Disney movies this fall. The upcoming 3D film will be the first Disney movie to animate Marvel characters. "Big Hero 6" revolves a young robotic genius Hiro Hamada and his robot Baymax. The film is expected to release on big screen on 7 November.
4. The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies
"Battle of the Five Armies" will be the third and final version of the "The Hobbit" movie series. The film is based on JRR Tolkien's book of the same name. The first two versions of the series, namely "An Unexpected Journey" and "The Desolation of Smaug", together collected around $2 billion from the box office.
As the entertainment world is eagerly waiting for the next part of the series, the movie is expected to be a blockbuster. "The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies" is scheduled to hit the theatres on 12 December in the UK and 17 December in the US.
5. Dumb and Dumber To
The fans of "Dumb and Dumber" are counting on to watch the next sequel of the popular movie of 1994. The movie lovers have already started quoting the lines from "Dumb and Dumber To" trailer on various social media sites. "Dumb and Dumber" earned a global box office collection of $247 million. The second sequel of the film is expected a worldwide release on 14 November.
6. Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb
"Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb" is the last film of Robin Williams. So his fans will defiantly walk into the theatres to pay tribute to their favourite star. The first two instalments of the movie series secured a box office collection of $987 million. The third and final part of the "Night at the Museum" trilogy is scheduled to release on 19 December.
7. Horrible Bosses 2
Warner Bros is coming up with the second sequel of the popular comedy film, "Horrible Bosses". The movie revolves around three young men, who decide to start their own business. Adding Christoph Waltz of "Inglourious Basterds" fame in the cast list has increased the excitement of the entertainment world. "Horrible Bosses 2" is expected to hit the big screens on 26 November.
8. Into The Woods
"Into The Woods" is the movie adaption of the Tony Award-winning musical by Stephen Sondheim and Lapine of the same name. The film will be brought to the theatres by Walt Disney. The cast list of the fairy tale film includes Emily Blunt, Meryl Streep, James Corden, Chris Pine, Anna Kendrick, Lilla Crawford, Tracey Ullman, Daniel Huttlestone and Christine Baranski. 9. Exodus: Gods and Kings
"Exodus: Gods and Kings" is a film based on the Book of Exodus in the Old Testament. The Biblical film will take the viewers through the exodus of Hebrews from Egypt led by Moses. "Exodus: Gods and Kings" stars Christian Bale, John Turturro, Joel Edgerton, Ben Kingsley and Sigourney Weaver. The movie is expected to hit the theatres on 4 December.
10. The Interview
"The Interview", as the name suggests, is about an interview by two journalists, who will be asked by the CIA to assassinate their interviewee Kim Jong-un. The action comedy film, starring Rogen and James Franco, is directed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. "The Interview" is set for a Christmas release.
