Sajid Khan's "Humshakals" is all set to have a wide release across the globe on Friday, 20 June.
In overseas markets alone, the film will be hitting more than 500 screens. "#Humshakals gets a wide release Overseas with 525 screens in 40 countries," film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
The comic caper stars Saif Ali Khan, Ritesh Deshumkh and Television actor Ram Kapoor in triple roles. Bipasha Basu, Tamannaah Bhatia, Satish Shah and Esha Gupta are also part of the film's cast.
For the first time, Saif is trying his hand at full fledged comedy in "Humshakals." "I wasn't sure if Saif would agree to let his hair down and go so much beyond his usual performances for Humshakals. But he has surprised me with his acting. Directing him made me laugh out loud so many times. In the process of making this film, Saif and I discovered that we are very similar in a lot of ways," Sajid was quoted as saying by the Press Trust of India.
After the debacle of action entertainer "Himmatwala", the director is back to doing a comedy film, which is his forte. "Humshakals" promises to offer "nine times the fun" as all the three lead characters will be appearing in triple roles.
Sajid is quite anxious about the audience response for the film. "I am not concerned about how much money it will make. I think when the going is good everyone will accept whatever you do. People know Sajid Khan's films as comic capers which make them laugh. They expect a comedy film from me and now I will give them only what they want," the director told PTI.
There is good buzz surrounding "Humshakals" thanks to the trailer and the film's promotional activities. Basu's revelation as to why she did not promote the film has put the Sajid directorial in the limelight. The actress has stated that she is not happy with the film's end result and has decided to stay away from the project. To read complete statement from Bipasha, click HERE.
The multi starrer is expected to take a good opening on its release, but the audience feedback will decide its fate at the box office.
With Akshay Kumar's "Holiday – A Solider is Never Off Duty" doing good business, "Humshakals" might face competition from the action entertainer. Although the screen count for "Holdiay" is expected to decline due to the release of "Humshakals," the film might still give a tough battle to the comic caper. It will be interesting to see if the film will be able to beat "Holiday" opening day collections, which amount to ₹12.18 crore
The film, reportedly made on a budget of ₹55 crore, is produced by Vashu Bhagnani under his banner Pooja Entertainment India Ltd. Its cinematography is handled by Ravi Yadav, music is composed by Himesh Reshammiya and editing is done by Rameshwar S. Bhagat.
