Huawei to Launch Ascend P6 ‘Google Edition’ Soon: Report

Chinese Smartphone maker, Huawei reportedly planning to join hands with the search engine giant, Google to launch the new Ascend P6 variant with stock Android OS.  

Huawei's president of handset division, Kevin Ho in an interview with Pocket Lint said that they (Huawei) are "working with Google to analyze the possibility of bringing out a Huawei Ascend P6 with Google Edition," contradicting the earlier statements of the company's CEO, Richard Yu, who had categorically ruled out the release of the new Ascend P6 variant with stock Android during the London launch event on 18 June.

If the reports of Huawei Ascend P6 'Google Edition' is true, it will join the ranks of flagship handsets - Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One - to boast of pure NUE (Nexus User Experience). These three smartphones along with LG-Google Nexus 4 will have the privilege to receive first OS upgrade ahead of any other Android-based smartphone in the market.

The new Huawei smartphone variant with stock Android will have almost the same hardware inside out as well as primary OS- Android Jelly Bean, but the only difference is that the smartphone will be devoid of company's custom user-interface Emotion UI.

Earlier in the month, Huawei launched Ascend P6 at a flashy London event. Ascend P6 sports 4.7-inch 1280x720p HD display and it is powered by 1.5GHz quad-core K3V2E processor with 2GB RAM and in-built memory of 8GB which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card.

The phone ships with 8.0 megapixel main camera capable of taking full HD video and 5.0-megapixel secondary camera which can record 720p HD video on the front side.

The Huawei smartphone is expected to roll-out with pink, white and black variants initially in China this month, and later in Western European markets (July). However, the price details and the date of availability of the Ascend P6 in India and other Asian regions are still under wraps.
