Leading Chinese smartphone-maker Huawei on Thursday unveiled the much awaited flagship phablet Mate 9.
As rumour mills had predicted, Huawei Mate 9 boasts massive upgrades in terms of internal hardware as well as in terms of design.
Huawei Mate 9 flaunts an all-metal Unibody design language with sand-blasted texture and powerful dual-snappers on the back, co-engineered by German-based photography pioneer Leica Camera AG.

Besides the generic Mate 9 model, Huawei also launched a premium model in collaboration with popular automobile major Porsche.
The key difference between the two is that the Porsche model boasts 5.5-inch high resolution QHD dual-edge curved screen with pixel density close to 540 ppi (pixels per inch), well crafted metallic shell on the back and on the edges, customized user-interface and iconic Porsche insignia on the back. Inside, it comes with sumptuous 6GB RAM and 256GB inbuilt storage.
On the other hand, the generic Mate 9 model sports a 5.9-inch full HD flat display, metal body, 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage and just Huawei logo on the back.
The rest of the hardware such as Kirin 960 octa-core processor, 20MP+12MP Leica cameras, 8MP front snapper, a 4,000mAh battery and other standard sensors remain the same in both the devices.
Huawei Mate 9 series availability details:
Huawei Mate 9 and Mate 9 Porsche Design series will be initially released in China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Thailand and United Arab Emirates for €699 ($776/Rs. 51,748) and €1395 ($1547/Rs. 1,03,275).
Going by the specifications list, Hauwei has got a winner to fill the void in the phablet segment left by the sad departure of Samsung Galaxy Note7.
It remains to be seen how consumers will react to the Huawei Mate 9 series.
