Chinese smartphone maker Huawei has launched its Android Wear-powered smartwatch, simply named the Watch, in India. The Watch will be available online via Flipkart starting Monday and offline through retail stores soon, the company said. The watch is priced at Rs. 22,999.
The unisex wearable watch features a 42mm face which houses a 1.4" AMOLED touchscreen behind scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass. The circular display measures 400x400 pixels along the diameter and has a resolution of 286 pixels per inch. Powering the innards is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 512 MB RAM and 4GB of storage. The Watch works with Android as well as iOS devices.
Weighing 61 gram, the smartwatch also checks the boxes that appeal to fitness enthusiasts as it packs a heart rate monitor as well as a six-axis motion sensor. The watch is also IP67-certified, which means that the device is dust resistant and can handle being submerged under 1 metre water for up to 30 minutes. The watch supports both metal and leather straps, but Huawei will only sell leather straps in India. So it's best to take the watch off while taking a shower.
While the device features an always-on display, Huawei doesn't want users to worry about bringing it back to life. The smartwatch supports fast charging and in 45 minutes, the battery can be charged to 80 percent. Leaving the watch plugged in for another 30 minutes takes the charge up to 100 percent. The 300mAh battery that Huawei has fit into the watch is supposed to last two days, according to WT VOX. Charging is done via a magnetic wireless charger.
