It is a tough market for smartphone makers as every day there's a new challenge. While OnePlus One reserved a secure spot with powerful specs in an affordable package, Huawei stepped up the battle with its Honor 6 Plus.
It may get confusing for buyers to choose the best sub-₹25,000 smartphone with strikingly similar specs. To make your decision easy, here's a comparison of both smartphones by their specs, features, prices and other essential elements.
Display
Huawei and OnePlus flagship smartphones have identical screens, measuring 5.5 inches diagonally with 1,920x1,080 pixel resolution display. The clarity of both phones is the same as the pixel density is also measured at 401ppi on both devices. In the OnePlus One, Adreno 330 is responsible for the graphics while Honor 6 Plus uses Mali T628 MP8.
Processor
OnePlus has an upper hand over Huawei in this category as the One smartphone is powered by a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor while Honor 6 Plus uses a 1.3GHz octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 925 SoC that has four Cortex-A15 and four Cortex-A7 cores.
Camera
Both phones have incredible cameras with unique features. The OnePlus One boasts a 13mp rear-facing camera with six physical lenses and dual LED flash. The Honor 6 Plus on the other hand has 8mp shooter with dual-lens system and dual flash. On the front side, Honor 6 Plus has a whopping 8mp camera while OnePlus One packs a 5mp snapper with 80-degree wide angle capture.
RAM and Storage
The storage in these phones is less of a concern as the OnePlus smartphone comes with 64GB built in storage and there's a 16GB variant too for those who want to save some bucks. However, the handset lacks microSD card slot for further expansion. Huawei gives the convenience of expanding storage up to 128GB via microSD card in both 16GB and 64GB variants.
Battery
The battery inside the Huawei Honor 6 Plus is enormous. It packs a 3,600mAh battery compared to OnePlus One's 3,100mAh unit. Both phones have promised great battery life in their price range.
Price
OnePlus One can only be bought if you have an invite from the company or from someone who already bought the handset. Both 16GB and 64GB variants are exclusively available via Amazon. The 16GB variant is priced at ₹18,999 while the 64GB model sells for ₹21,999.
Huawei is yet to release the handset in India but reports suggest the handset will be available as a Flipkart exclusive on 24 March. The price is yet to be confirmed, but the international pricing of Honor 6 Plus puts the 16GB price somewhere around ₹20,000.
Verdict
Both phones are not available at your convenience, but there are high chances of getting Huawei Honor 6 Plus than a OnePlus One, given the invite-only model. Price-wise, both phones make full justice but OnePlus One is cheaper than Huawei Honor 6 Plus (note that the official pricing is yet to be revealed).
By choosing OnePlus One, customers will be losing on some features such as expandable memory and a bigger battery. But the 64GB variant makes up for the lack of microSD card. OnePlus still offers a great build quality, better camera and a fast processor compared to its rival.
In the end, it all comes down to the brand value of both phones. Huawei has a greater network in the smartphone market while OnePlus is limited.
