Huawei Honor 5X has started receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow based EMUI 4.0 update via OTA (over-the-air) after months of waiting. The company had rolled out the firmware soak test for the device in India a few days ago, so its release doesn't come as a surprise.
The Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA update has been pushed out to the Huawei Honor 5X, according to MobiPicker (via GSMArena). The report went on to say that the update is available on the company's official app HiCare. The firmware has been rolled out to the device with model number KIW-L22 in Asia and global release is expected at a later date.
The firmware update brings features like Doze, Now on Tap, Runtime Permissions and Google Now on Tap.
The Huawei Honor 5X was launched in China in October 2015 before other markets earlier this year. It came with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on top of EMUI 3.1, sports a 5.5-inch Full-HD display with 1080 x 1920 pixels (401 ppi pixel density), measures 151.3x76.3x8.2 mm in dimension, and weighs 158 g.
Under the hood, it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor clocking at 1.5 GHz, a 16GB internal memory (expandable up to 128 GB via microSD card), a 3GB RAM, a 13MP main camera with f/2.0 aperture, 28mm, autofocus and LED flash, a 5MP front-snapper with f/2.4 aperture and 22mm, and a 3,000mAh battery.
