The Chinese arm of consumer electronics firm HTC has reportedly confirmed that the company will launch a new smartphone later this week.
HTC China posted a teaser on Weibo that shows the rear-side of the smartphone. It also features the launch date, 6 September. Going by the curved corners, it looks like the phone will not be another spin-off of the flagship HTC One series. The design language does resemble the HTC phone, code-named Aero A9. A few pictures of the device were leaked online last week.
In the image, the device (alleged to be the HTC Aero A9) looked similar to the iPhone series. The curved corners and white plastic strip on the top and the bottom had an uncanny resemblance to the Apple device. The only difference between the two is that the HTC phone houses the camera in the middle, whereas the Apple device comes with snapper in the top-left corner. [View the HTC A9 images, HERE]
However, the HTC Aero A9 is said to be completely different in terms of hardware inside. It is expected to flaunt 2.5D curved glass on the front and inside, it will come packed with MediaTek's new Helio X20 Deca-core SoC (System on Chip) and a state-of-art camera on the rear-side, much superior to HTC One M9, which was launched early this year.
Rumour has it that HTC A9 will cost around ¥ 3000 - ¥4000 Yuan ($468-$624/€406-€542/Rs 31050-Rs 41360).
