Taiwanese smartphone maker today (15 May) officially unveiled the compact variant of the company's flagship handset dubbed as HTC One Mini 2.
The new HTC One Mini 2 borrows the elegant design concept from its flagship elder sibling, albeit the internal hardware specification. It flaunts Aluminum back-case with 4.5-inch HD (720p) LCD display. Under the hood, it houses 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 series quad-core CPU, 1GB RAM, 16GB inbuilt memory (expandable up to 128GB), 2100 mAh battery, 13.0-megapixel main camera and a 5.0-megapixel snapper on the front.
"The latest member of the award-winning HTC One family distills the advanced features that have earned it global acclaim, into an elegant, compact handset," said Peter Chou, CEO of HTC.
"Its size and tapered edges fit perfectly in a hand, pocket or purse, making it look great and feel even better to use. It's the perfect choice for those who love the iconic design of the HTC One (M8) yet want something more compact."
While the new HTC One Mini 2 is said to hit stores in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and Asia regions in June with color options Gunmetal Gray, Glacial Silver and Amber Gold, the price details of the phone is still under the wraps.The company is expected to reveal the price structure during local launches in respective regions.
Though the new HTC One Mini 2 seems to be a worthy upgrade to its predecessor, it still falls short against the rival, Xperia Z1 Compact, which truly represents the tag 'mini-flagship' phone. Sans the size, the Sony mini device comes loaded with all the top-end specifications like 800-series quad-core CPU, 20.7-megapixel camera and other value-added features seen inside its big brother Xperia Z1.
