HTC has been keeping its flagship design under wraps and it certainly has a good reason. Leaked images by a popular mobile tipster reveal the final design of the upcoming HTC One M9 aka Hima, which makes a strong statement on behalf of HTC. The new images along with the leaked specs can help the Taiwanese tech giant go after its rivals in the industry with a strong device. Here's a look at all the leaked specs of HTC One M9 so far and also what other tech giants have planned for this year's big smartphone launch.
HTC One M9
It is clearly one of the most anticipated devices of the year. The brand itself has a reputation of building best-class smartphones, the flagship One series for instance. There have been several leaks and rumours about the new device, based on which we conclude that HTC is going to give a tough competition in the high-end device category.
The newly leaked image from a reliable source and a semi-retired tipster, @evleaks has revived our interest in the smartphone, thanks to the exceptional design of the One M9. The overall device seems refreshing with edge-to-edge glass, redesigned edge-mounted BoomSound speakers and a relocated camera. Surprisingly, the HTC flagship is accompanied by another variant in the picture, which is bigger and sports a centre home button as seen in Samsung smartphones.
The bigger handset in the leaked picture features a curved rectangular button just below the HTC logo at the bottom. There are rumours it could serve as a fingerprint scanner and/or home button. Both smartphones appear to be clad in a metal chassis, in line with all other flagship smartphones by HTC.
As for the HTC One M9, there have been a series of rumours about the smartphone's specs. Based on the most reliable ones, the 2015 flagship is expected to have a 5.2-inch display with 2K display. It will be powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 810 processor clocking speeds at 2GHz, 3GB RAM, Adreno 430 GPU, 20MP rear camera with LED flash and UltraPixel front snapper.
HTC has scheduled an event for 1 March at the MWC event in Barcelona, where the flagship handset is expected to make its debut. We'll know for sure then if these renderings are real or simply add to the long list of rumours.
Samsung Galaxy S6
It is really important for Samsung to make its Galaxy S6 admirable, especially when the company is sinking in losses. The world's largest smartphone company is doing everything in its power to make it happen. According to the rumoured specs, Samsung will choose top-of-the-shelf specs for its new flagship.
The rumoured Galaxy S6 will draw its power from Snapdragon Qualcomm 810 processor or an Exynos 7 octa-core chip with Cat 9 LTE. Other specs include a 5.2-inch or 5.5-inch Quad HD display, 20mp rear camera and a 5mp front snapper. Much like the HTC One M9, Samsung Galaxy S6 will have 3GB RAM and metal chassis.
Samsung is also expected to launch the Galaxy S6 during the MWC 2015 event in Barcelona this March.
LG G4
LG is also another strong competitor in the flagship race. After leading the path for Quad HD resolution in smartphone displays, LG will continue its journey to woo its fans. Based on the rumours so far, the LG G4 is expected downgrade its screen size to 5.3-inch Quad HD display along with other specs like Snapdragon 810 SoC, 3GB RAM, 16mp rear camera and 3-4mp front snapper.
There have been some rumours suggesting the G4 to embrace a larger display with 4K resolution and sapphire crystal glass coating instead of Corning Gorilla Glass.
LG is reportedly expected to debut its G4 at the MWC event in March.
