Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC has launched two new handsets - One M9+ and One E9+ in India.
This is a bit contrary to what media or fans had anticipated. The company was expected to launch the 2015 flagship smartphone One M9 in New Delhi, but HTC has launched two variants of the original model, unveiled just a few days ago in neighbouring China.
HTC One M9+ looks strikingly identical to the original HTC One M9, which boasts the dual-tone uni-body design language. The phone's rear is a silver-coated metal, whereas on the edges, it is laced with gold-coating providing dual metal finish.
The company, in its bid to make the device look different from the original flagship model, has made changes in display resolution (& size) CPU and camera department.
One M9+ sports a 5.2-inch QHD (2560x1440p) LCD screen and houses MediaTek Octa-core SoC (System on Chip), 3GB RAM, 32GB inbuilt memory and 2840 mAh battery.
Another key aspect of the new HTC One M9+ is that it houses the finger-print sensor which we see in rival brands – Samsung Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge and Apple iPhone 6.
On the photography front, it houses the 20.0-megapixel camera with an additional camera sensor at the top, to capture detailed, in-depth information of the scene, enabling users to re-focus other objects visible in the photo which have been already clicked via UFocus application.
On the other hand, HTC One E9+ sports a mammoth 5.5-inch QHD (2560x440p) screen and like the previous generation E9, it flaunts the plastic body. One key improvement is that HTC has incorporated dual-tone colouring seen the current flagship smartphone -HTC One (M9).
Under the hood, it houses 2.0GHz Mediatek Octa-core processor, 3GB RAM, 16GB in-built memory, 20.0-megapixel camera on the rear-side, a ultra-pixel snapper on the front and 2800 mAh battery.
HTC One M9+ and One E9+ India price and release details:
The company has reportedly confirmed that the new HTC One M9+ will be released in India for ₹52,500 on 3 May. Even One E9+ too, will be made available next month, but the device's price is still under wraps.
As for HTC One M9, the company is tight-lipped about the flagship smartphone's availability in the subcontinent.
