Earlier this week, we heard that HTC may soon launch a Windows Phone OS powered One M8 model; now, a new report has surfaced online indicating the phone might finally see the light next month.
HTC has begun sending out invites for an event at New York City on 19 August, reported GSMArena. The technology website claims the Taiwanese firm will use this event as a launching pad for the speculated HTC One M8 Windows phone variant.
The graphic image of the press invite received by the website, is strikingly similar to the one we saw in the HTC One M8 launch invitation. [To view the invitation, click here]
It is said the upcoming HTC Windows OS phone will house all specifications seen inside the flag ship One M8 (Android OS model), including ultra-pixel technology based dual-camera and metallic body, unlike the plastic variant - HTC One E8 which had different camera specifications.
The original HTC One M8 received praises from all quarters - top tech pundits and fans alike for its sleek zero-gap uni-body design language and the generous use of metal for smartphone construction (90-percent of the outer-body is comprised of metal). It was hailed as the iPhone among the Android smartphones.
Now, HTC is about to introduce metal-based Windows phone, which are currently popular for camera features, thanks to Nokia's Lumia range of devices.
Word on the street is that the HTC One Windows phone will be initially made available to American carrier Verizon, but there are no details if the company has any plan of the introducing the new phone elsewhere.
As of now, the company has released two HTC One M8 variants - a compact model - One Mini (aka One Remix for Verizon in USA) and One E8, a plastic variant.
Even though the rumors of Windows-powered HTC One M8 running wild in the media, HTC is yet to respond to the rumors. Until the company clears the air over the rumors, this report will remain as pure speculations only.
